WebSince 1984 when Reading Recovery began in the United States, approximately 75% of students who complete the full 12- to 20-week intervention can meet grade-level expectations in reading and writing. Follow-up studies indicate that most Reading Recovery students also do well on standardized tests and maintain their gains in later years. WebLaurel’s primary work has involved the training and ongoing support of early elementary level literacy interventionists who are working within the Reading Recovery program. She has provided training, coaching, and other support to up to 30 to 50 teachers in any single year, and has provided initial training for approximately 150 teachers.
