This minimalist plugs for carbon steerers just make it that more essential that the spacers and steerer tube length be just right, else the plug will not be positioned for support directly under the stem clamping area. Stretched bolt threads - if the bolts or the threads are distorted, you may be hitting 5Nm without bottoming the bolts completely.
